The 90th Missile Wing hosted members of the Laramie County School District #1 Sources of Strength program for a base familiarization tour, Nov. 18, 2022.

Drew Hall, Hope Person, Laura Fowler and Christopher Zimmy visited the base for an inside look at the Mighty Ninety’s mission and to gain a better understanding of the challenges military children face in the local school districts.

“It’s so important for our kids to see airmen in a different light,” said Hall. “When we first started this work, we just wanted the community standing side-by-side, shoulder to shoulder. I think that’s the most important part and our kids need to see that this could be their future.”

The tour included a wing mission brief, a visit to the 90th Operations Group, a security forces shooting demo and a hands-on experience at a maintenance facility.

“We know the base is here, we generally know the mission but being able to see it in person is just another level,” said Laura Fowler.

The Sources of Strength program is utilized in the U.S., Canada and Australia, among others, and it is used right here in the school districts of Cheyenne.
