Historic plaque donated to base museum
Jim Widlar and Frank Waters, former 706th Strategic Missile Wing members assigned here in the1950s and 1960s, presented to Col. Tracey Hayes, 90th Missile Wing commander; Chief Master Sgt. Mike Garrou, 90th Missile Wing Command Chief; Paula Taylor, 90th MW Museum curator; and Mike Byrd, 90th MW historian, the original Atlas missile plaque which states “706th Strategic Missile Wing, America’s 1st Operational ICBM Wing,” during a commander’s call in the Base Theater Aug. 27, 2013.
